The average age of a child entering the commercial sex trade is 13

A child forced into prostitution is a child being raped, often multiple times a day.

Every month nearly 1000 individuals are sold for sex often multiple times in Nebraska.

Every month at least 200 individuals are sold for sex often multiple times in the Lincoln area.

Traffickers recruit younger girls due to higher profit margins. The younger the sex worker the higher the hourly rate.

1 out of every 250 high school and middle school students in Nebraska enter the commercial sex trade each year.

A trafficker or recruiter does not look like the old stereotype of a pimp. In today’s world, the trafficker or recruiter looks like an average person.

The average cost to purchase sex in Nebraska is $210/hour.

Most victims do not believe they are victims. As a result of the “coercion experience” they are afraid of the police and authorities. Most victims believe their “owner” loves them and cares about them.

More than 600 Nebraska human services providers have identified sex trafficking victims younger than 17.
